Stage One Talent: Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ hub. Whether you are an aspiring actor, a seasoned professional, or a parent looking to launch your child’s career, we have compiled this guide to help you navigate the representation process and understand how Stage One Talent operates.

Q: How is my personal information stored?
We securely store all submitted information in line with GDPR regulations.

Q: Do I need to agree to a privacy policy?
Yes. All applicants must tick the consent box confirming they agree to our Privacy Policy and terms of representation.

General

Q: Where are you based?
We operate across London, Essex, and the UK, with actors submitted nationwide and internationally.

Q: What ages do you represent?
We represent talent from age 5+ through adults.

Q: Can parents apply on behalf of their child?
Yes. Parents or legal guardians can apply for minors.

Q: Can parents apply on behalf of their child? Yes. All applications for minors under the age of 18 must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

Q: Is representation exclusive? Yes. To ensure there is no conflict of interest with casting directors, we require our talent to be signed with us on an exclusive basis for the categories we represent you in.

Q: How long does it take to hear back after applying? We review every application. If we are interested in moving forward, you will typically hear from us within 14 days. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unfortunately unable to provide individual feedback if you are not successful.

Costs & Expectations

Q: Does it cost anything to join the agency? In line with UK law, we do not charge any upfront “joining” or “registration” fees. We work on a commission-only basis, meaning we only get paid when you get paid.

Q: Are there any third-party costs? While joining is free, professional headshots and a subscription to casting platforms (such as Spotlight) are essential industry requirements for professional actors. We can provide guidance on these after a successful application.

Q: Do you guarantee work? No reputable agency can guarantee work. Our role is to provide you with the best possible opportunities and “open the door,” but the final casting decision always lies with the production’s casting director.

Terms of Representation (Summary)

Adding a “Simplified Terms” section to your site manages expectations regarding the legal relationship between the actor and the agent.

Our Partnership Agreement

When you join Stage One Talent, we enter into a professional partnership. While your full contract will contain the legal specifics, here are the key pillars of our representation:

  • Exclusivity: We represent you exclusively for all professional work in the categories agreed upon (e.g., Stage, Screen, and Commercials). You must refer all direct inquiries or “offers” to the agency immediately.
  • The 24-Hour Rule: The industry moves fast. We expect our talent to respond to audition invites or “pencils” (availability checks) within 24 hours. Failure to communicate can result in missed opportunities and damages the agency’s reputation.
  • Professional Materials: It is the talent’s responsibility to maintain an active Spotlight profile and provide the agency with up-to-date, professional headshots. We cannot submit you for work if your portfolio is outdated.
  • Commission & Payments: Stage One Talent operates on a commission basis. We deduct our percentage from your gross fee. Payments are processed to talent as soon as the funds are cleared from the production company or casting house.
  • Code of Conduct: We expect all talent to behave professionally on set. You are an ambassador for Stage One Talent. Tardiness, unprofessional behavior, or “leaking” script details on social media are grounds for immediate termination of representation.
  • Termination: Either party may terminate the representation agreement by providing the notice period specified in your contract (typically 30 days), ensuring all outstanding commissions and projects are settled.
